The Address

Scarpetta

The restaurant took over the space of the former Tambi, on a stretch of Amoy Street packed with restaurants and bars. Look for the queue outside, it is usually the giveaway.

How to Get There

  • By MRT.
The nearest stations are Telok Ayer (Downtown Line, about a 10 minute walk) and Tanjong Pagar (East West Line). From Telok Ayer station, walk along Cross Street toward Amoy Street and turn in.
  • By bus.
Several bus services run along the roads around Telok Ayer and Raffles Quay. Check your route on the day, as services change.
  • By car or taxi.
Set your drop-off to 47 Amoy Street. Parking in the area is limited and pricey, so public transport is the easier option.

The Area

Amoy Street sits in the Telok Ayer district, one of the densest food streets in the CBD. If the queue looks too long, you are surrounded by backups: the whole street and the nearby Lau Pa Sat area are full of good places to eat. That makes Scarpetta an easy try, if the line is brutal, eat nearby and come back on a quieter day.

What to Know Before You Visit

  • It is walk-in only.
There are no reservations at Scarpetta, ever. Your seat depends on when you arrive and how long the queue is.
  • Queues are real.
Weekday lunches are the calmest. Dinner queues build fast, and Friday and Saturday nights can mean a two-hour wait. Arriving before the doors open is the single best strategy.
  • The room is small.
28 seats total, including a 16-seat chef’s table around the open kitchen. Big groups will wait longer, so keep it small if you can.
  • No delivery.
Scarpetta is dine-in only. If you want the food, you have to come to Amoy Street.
  • Closed Sunday and Monday.
The restaurant rests two full days a week. The most common mistake first-timers make is showing up on a Sunday.
